Forlorn Outcast is a fantasy Souls-like Action RPG developed by Griever Games with a team of twenty people. It runs on the Unreal Engine. Forlorn Outcast follows the adventure of Zafira, a talented swordswoman and magician, as she attempts to stop the demonic invasion of her homeland and uncover the truth about magic. She finds herself confronted with a barrage of environmental hazards, traps, and devious enemies. These enemies grow stronger the more frequently Zafira casts magic, and they work in coordination through the use of Synergies to provide challenges for even the most experienced players. At its core, Zafira’s story is one of sacrifice, represented in narrative and in gameplay.

Responsibilities

For this game, I managed the narrative, overhauling the previous writer’s work into one consistent vision. I planned all narrative assets, and wrote the world lore, character documents, level design pitches, and three of five cutscenes. Close iterative work with contractors ensured art and sound matched the intended project direction.

Collaborated closely with team directors to hold narrative vision, delegate tasks, communicate to artists and level designers
Assisted in managing asset lists and identifying new assets necessary for levels
